Russians continue to storm Azovstal steelworks, defenders hold back Russians – Azov Regiment

The Russian invaders continue to drop aerial bombs on the defenders of Mariupol and use heavy artillery, tanks and a large amount of infantry to storm the Azovstal steelworks.

What happened before: On May 14 relatives of Azovstal defenders called on China to help with the extraction of  the Ukrainian military from Mariupol.

Background: 

  •         The Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories said that negotiations are underway with the mediation of Turkey, the UN, and the International Committee of the Red Cross on the evacuation of military personnel from Azovstal, starting with the seriously wounded. Ukraine wants to sign a document on exactly how the evacuation from Azovstal will take place, and now preparations are underway for its signing.
  •         Ukraine is currently negotiating the evacuation of 60 people from the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol. Earlier it was reported that negotiations are underway on 38 seriously injured (unable to walk) fighters. 
  •         The Russian occupiers refused to allow extraction of the defenders of Mariupol by the sea to a neutral country. They also said that after removing all civilians from the bunkers, their "had a free rein".
  •       Turkey offered to take the Ukrainian military out of Mariupol and guarantee that until the end of the war they would no longer fight, but would remain in Turkey.
  •       On May 11, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk reported that the Ukrainian side is offering to exchange seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers who remain on the territory of Azovstal for captured Russian military personnel.
