Satellite images show increase in equipment at military base in Belarus

Satellite images from the Umbra technology company show a build-up of equipment and vehicles in Belarus at a military base near the village of Cel, Asipovičy district.

Details: Earlier images taken by Maxar Technologies on 16 July showed only about 10 trucks and 5 buses in one storage area.

Images from 21 July show an increase in the number of vehicles and equipment.

 
 
 

Background:

  • On 19 July, there were reports that a ninth convoy of Wagner mercenaries was moving along the M5 motorway from Bobruisk towards Asipovičy.
  • The founder of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, supposedly spoke to the mercenaries who arrived in Belarus and stated that they would be training the Belarusian army.
  • There are about 500 wheeled vehicles near the Wagner Group tent camp in Belarus.
  • On 20 July, the State Border Guard Service reported that the Wagner Group was continuing to arrive in Belarus, but did not pose a threat to Ukraine.
  • On 21 July, Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak ordered the relocation of Polish troops from the west to the east of the country due to possible threats associated with the Wagner group's "exercises" in Belarus.
