Quote from Aksyonov: "An emergency of municipal scale has been recognized. The number of residents accommodated in temporary accommodation centres is 252."

Details: He added that the owners of damaged housing will receive compensation from 10 to 100 thousand rubles, depending on the destruction.

Debris clearance should take no more than ten days, and it will begin after the damage assessment.

Background:

On 9 August, explosions rang out at the military airfield in Novofedorivka, temporarily occupied Crimea. Sergei Aksyonov, the so-called "head of Crimea", reported that one person died and six were injured.

The Ministry of Defence of Russia stated that the fire at the Saki air base was caused by the detonation of several aircraft shells. Later, a source of the Russian military department told TASS about the violation of fire safety requirements at the airfield near Novofedorivka.

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine stated that it could not establish the cause of the fire in Novofedorivka.

The New York Times, citing a "high-ranking Ukrainian military officer", wrote that Ukrainian forces were allegedly behind the explosions at the airfield in occupied Crimea.

Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that Kyiv was not involved in the explosions at the airfield in Novofedorivka, but did not exclude that partisans were behind it.
